This global initiative aligns with our core values, inspiring us and others to support environmental solutions through annual memberships and everyday actions.
Our contributions have significantly impacted the environment since we began our alliance with 1% for the Planet in 2016. By donating more than 5 million SEK, we have directly supported the vital work of our nonprofit partners.
The organisations Upsales support
1% for the planet was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chounard (founder of outdoor brand Patagonia). Through this program, Upsales has selected to sponsor two incredible organisations paving the way to a cleaner and brighter environment. These two organisations are Solvatten and Naturarvet.
Solvatten
Solvatten is a Swedish social enterprise that brings Solvatten Solar Safe Water System to customers, charities, and distributors around the world. Their product is a combined portable water treatment and heater system designed for off-grid household use in the developing world. Naturarvet
Naturarvet is a non-profit foundation working to protect ancient forests in Sweden.
Thanks to Naturarvet's efforts, more ancient forests can be preserved, which not only helps to protect biodiversity but also contributes to slowing down climate change.
About 1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet is a global organization that exists to ensure our planet and future generations thrive. We act as an accountability partner for businesses supporting environmental partners through annual membership. We make environmental giving easy and effective through partnership advising, impact storytelling, and third-party certification.
Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, our members have given millions to environmental partners. Today, 1% for the Planet’s global network consists of thousands of businesses and environmental partners working toward a better future.
